This past Christmas I was gifted a most fabulous present, a Dual level membership to The Frick Collection in NYC! The Frick Collection’s historic buildings at 1 East 70th Street have been undergoing restoration and will reopen in April 2025! I am excited to return to explore the renovations and reacquaint myself with the beautiful collection of Fine Art and antiques!
My last visit was some time ago, and I recall that visit fondly. One of my favorite spots in the Frick is The Garden Court, located at the heart of the Frick’s main floor. The Garden Court replaced the open carriage court of the original Frick residence. The Garden Court was designed in the 1930s by architect John Russell Pope, who was responsible for the conversion of the Frick mansion into a museum. The court’s paired Ionic columns and symmetrical planting beds were echoed in Pope’s later designs for the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
I can’t wait for this April!
