Art Work

Here’s a selection of my recent landscape paintings, each reflecting my journey as an artist. Some of these pieces were created en plein air, capturing the essence of the moment, while others grew out of studio sessions, fueled by earlier inspirations.

My commitment to painting from life is rooted in a belief that this practice nurtures an authentic bond with nature. In my landscape work, I strive to express a genuine observation of the natural world, approaching its grandeur with humility and a desire to deepen my understanding of our surroundings. Through my art, I aim to shed light on the beauty that envelops us, encouraging viewers to appreciate the extraordinary wonders of our world.

I want to share with you how everyday objects inspire me as an artist. Whether it's a dented antique teapot, a chipped cup, or a simple piece of pottery, these items truly spark my creativity. I carefully choose each piece based on its unique qualities like shape, color, and texture. It may take weeks or even months before I find the perfect place for them in my paintings.

I especially love working with brass, copper, and hand-thrown pottery. Their shapes and colors are so captivating to me. When I arrange them together, I focus on how the play of light can bring them to life.

Speaking of light, it's my ultimate muse. The way light interacts with the objects I paint is simply magical. It sets the mood and transforms the ordinary into something extraordinary. I always prioritize capturing the essence of light in my work because it adds depth and beauty to everything I paint.

In my art, I aim to balance realism with a focus on the luminous quality of light. It's truly the light that breathes life into my still life paintings. Without it, the objects would appear flat and lifeless. That's why I believe in letting the light guide me and infuse my work with its poetic and magical presence.

I hope you can see the beauty and wonder that light brings to my art. It's truly a joy to create and share my passion with others. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about what inspires me as an artist.

Below are some commissioned charcoal and pencil portraits, others of models, friends and pets. Portrait commissions are available year-round. To achieve the highest level of accuracy and capture the essence of my subjects, I prefer to work directly from life. Typically, I require 3 to 5 sittings lasting 2 hours each, depending on the complexity of the portrait. I have experience traveling to clients' homes for commissions or hosting sitters in my studio.

Pet portraits can be started from life or worked up from a quality photograph.
